Fitzpatrick Machine
When it comes to IPL, you can never be too careful. Because of the high temperatures involved in the treatment and the reality that the light is attracted to the pigment in the skin, there is always a possibility of burning a client – however, this is only a real possibility if the therapist misdiagnoses the client's skin type in the first place. Because it is virtually impossible to see underlying pigment with the naked eye a regular skin analysis with a maggie lamp does not provide enough information to accurately determine IPL machine settings.
With our Fitzpatrick machine, we can precisely determine exactly what your underlying pigment level is before we treat you, and in turn, this means we can get the setting on our IPL machine exactly right for you personally. Not only does this mean that we dramatically reduce the possibility of burning a client but we also increase the effectiveness of the treatment because we have not gone to the other end of the scale and treated you on settings to low.
Information in action is power and this wee gem of a machine helps to protect our clients and give them the level of results they deserve.
Skin Scanner
Our skin scanner is an incredible diagnostic tool along the same lines of the Fitzpatrick machine only from a more qualitative rather than quantitative angel. With the skin scanner, you as the client can see exactly what the therapist sees and understand what they are basing their recommended course of action on. You will learn so much using the skin scanner and motivate yourself to address concerns that may not have been staring you in the eye a moment ago.
The skin scanner uses UV light to highlight and magnify different skin conditions; you can see and understand what your therapist is talking about and although it can be little horrifying at times it gives your therapist a real base to begin treatment priorities from.
The skin scanner is also great for tracking progress. As you progress through your treatment and home care series you can pop into the skin scanner for a quick check to see if the conditions you are focusing on are improving and continue that course of action or modify your approach.
